About Us

February 2005 at the Board of Bishops meeting, Rev. Kris Nichols was inspired by God to open a church in San Antonio. Both Rev. Kris and her husband were committed to this new mission, so church leaders, Rev. Kris and husband Nick all spent time in prayer. The Word they received from the Lord was "Restoring Broken Lives" based on Isaiah 58:10-12, which became their Mission Statement. Their building was located on April 5th, 2005 and a lease was signed on the 18th. On May 8th, Mother's Days, the first service was held with 15 in attendance.

When we first began this church, we went out into the area letting people know we are here and we care. Our initial church service had 4 children, and then 8, and within a month we had over 20 children attending church. To my surprise children as young as 2 years, were being given to me to take to church. One night after our church meal was finished, I heard running water in the bathroom. I saw a 3 year-old-boy who had climbed up on the trash can, so he could reach the sink. He was covered in soap, his shirt and shorts were soaked. I asked what is he doing. He looked at me and said, "you have soap."

Our marching orders from Lord included having something to eat after church service, bible study or any activity at the church. I noticed some of the children would eat a portion of their plate and then ask if they could wrap it up and take it home. I realized they were taking it home for someone else. I started fixing extra so they could have more to take home.

We can keep our eyes closed and stay away from the parts of San Antonio we think are a problem, but Jesus said, "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me." Matthew 25:34-40 NLT
